I didn't know where I was heading, but the few days and weeks before Thanksgiving, I knew I had to hit the road somewhere. Four days off just doesn't seem to be long enough; therefore, I had a premanition I would not come into work the following Monday after Thanksgiving.
Secretly, I wanted to make it to Las Vegas and see if I could try my luck one more time this year. It turned out I never made it, but did stop somewhere in New Mexico to play blackjack, and after that decided it was time for the end of the blackjack career- at least for another 2 1/2 years. Most of my passion to beat the game has gone, replaced by logic and wisdom: there's no substitute for hard work.
Most of the roadtrip was actually a real roadtrip. Just lots of time spent driving through Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. Lots of time to contemplate and relax. Even though some of the drive was through heavy snow and freezing temperatures.
Most likely this will be the last roadtrip for 2001. What a year it has been for driving.
