It's actually 9:35 pm here in Anchorage, Alaska. This will be my first full day in this city and I'm still somewhat excited at the opportunity to be here. I woke up by Central Time Zone standard, but very early by Alaska Time Zone standard.
I woke up and sent some resumes off to companies which advertised in the Anchorage Daily News, and suprisingly, I got a call from J. Rogers today. Returned his call and could be interviewing with the company when he returns from vacation next Monday; Anchorage could be a stopping point for a while. In the meantime, I could possibly travel to Fairbanks and visit mid-Alaska.
Spent the day shopping for groceries and snacks. Then I spent the rest of the day replacing the tire blown in the Northwest Territories and a washer which was missing from one of the tires. The only placed which had the tire was Sam's Club. Sam's Club is the cheapest place to buy tires, but they charge an additional 5% for non-members, but it's still worth it. Otherwise, I would have had to buy 2 new tires.
Then while attempting to find the the Glenn Highway, I found the street which led to Government Hill, the place where my dad and I lived our lives in Anchorage. It was so exciting to think about how things have changed in the past 20 years, but in my heart I wished everything could be the same...because all my memories about Anchorage have been happy memories.
Expect to hike the downtown area tomorrow and possibly go back down to Government Hill and hike there. There's a park nearby, and I saw many people riding mountain bikes on my way into Anchorage, so I may be doing some mountain biking at the park this Sunday.
My internal clock is still based on Texas time so I should be heading off to bed soon.
